John 14:1-6
Have you ever wondered why the Scripture is so full of references to family relationships (bride, groom, father, children, etc.)? Well, God wants us to understand the nuances of the unique kinship He has created for us. The disciples of Jesus are listening to Him assure them of their future home in the mansions of Heaven that He is going to prepare for them. We have also received this encouragement for ourselves, and it has comforted us in many a troublesome time. Would it surprise you to find out that this passage carries some understanding that we in Western World culture miss? It relates to Jewish wedding customs that are FAR different from our own.
