Do you consider yourself a better Christian than others? Do you enjoy pointing out others’ faults while ignoring your own? Do you fail to practice what you preach?
If so, you might be a Pharisee—a modern-day version of the religious leaders in Jesus’ day. Pharisaism is one of the sins that angered Jesus the most. Yet we are often in bondage to it without realizing it. How can we recognize the warning signs in our own hearts and lives and be set free?
The Blind Man and Mud Pies!
In the first six verses of John 9, Jesus miraculously heals a man born blind. The miracle of the healing of this blind man takes place in less than a dozen words. But the furor it stirs up fills the remainder of this lengthy chapter and comprises the longest narrative of a miracle to be found in the New Testament. What was Jesus doing?!!!
Offended by God’s Ways
Religion will never lead you to the Kingdom! It stoned Stephen, put Paul in chains in a Roman dungeon, crucified Peter upside down, and nailed Jesus to Calvary’s cross. Religion is a vicious, hateful, evil, dangerous spirit! You would be hard pressed to find a war that has ever been fought that wasn’t somehow wrapped around religion! What a surprise! Really?
Jesus Offers a Radical Pharisectomy
RELIGION doesn’t want to go farther with God and doesn’t want anyone else to go farther either. Pharisees are always looking for a reason to be offended. Jesus offers a RADICAL PHARISECTOMY! Do you want it? (Explaining the Obed-Edom Principle I Chronicles 13:13-14)
